Hi Alan and thank you for participating in Golf World Rankings. Firstly, congratulations on being the the No.2 ranked golfer in Div 1 for September 2016. That is amazing. We know our readers will be keen to know more so we have a few questions!

GWR: What do you like about Golf World Rankings?

AD: This is a great idea for club golfers. Nothing like being able to brag to your mates on the tee about being world no1.

GWR: Would you tell your mates about GWR?

AD: Of course, I keep telling them to enter their scores and see how they fare out.

GWR: What’s in the bag? We see you play off a low handicap of 5 (!). Tell us about your clubs and how you settled on them.

AD: Callaway Xr driver and 3 wood, Ping G25 20,23 and 27 utilities, mizuno jpx 825 pro irons and wedges. Ping Cadence putter. Pro V1X ball. Reason for the clubs is they are all the most forgiving I have played with.

GWR: What is your home course and what do you like best about it?

A superb test for any golfer. With the variety of tee boxes they can mix it up very easily. No two holes are alike, elevation changes, undulating fairways and greens keep you thinking on every shot. Never played a course where you can make a double or treble bogey so easy but also get great chances for birdie.

GWR: What was the lowest round you ever shot? What was the key do you think?

AD: 3 under a few times. The one thing I noticed after those rounds was my ball striking obviously but targets when aligning myself became tiny, as instead of aiming at a tree behind a green, I was aiming at a branch.

GWR: If you have one magic bit of golf advice for our readers that you use, what would it be?

AD: High handicappers tell you how far, low handicappers tell you how many.

GWR: Thanks Alan for some real insights there and congratulations again. We can't wait to see what score you come up with in October!

Key take aways from the interview with Alan D'Arcy:

1. Tell you friends about GWR! Lets get everyone involved - it is just more fun that way!

2. Dunmurry Springs Golf Course in Ireland sounds awesome! Put it on your list if you are traveling to Ireland.

3. Play with the clubs that allow you forgiveness and you feel comfortable playing with.

4.To play well, you must be really specific about your target. Don't just aim vaguely down the fairway or at the green, pick out something really small, and aim for that. If you miss it, you are probably still on the green or in the fairway, if you hit it, you are really going to be close.

5. Don't focus on how far you can hit it, focus on scoring well. Some advice here would be, when you go to the range, you should be focusing on your scoring clubs, your wedges and putting. The best players in the world are brilliant from 100 yards in but not necessarily the best drivers of the ball. Food for thought!
