Why did we start Golf World Rankings?

We started GWR because we love to compete and we love to measure how we are doing compared to other golfers, wherever they might be. Usually, to do this you have to either enter all the official amateur competitions and get a ranking that way or you have to be a professional.

Not all of us have the time or are located in a place where access to official amateur competitions is possible. As such, we are out of the loop. This is why we started GWR.

GWR allows you to get a ranking with just 1 round of golf. You can tee it up anywhere in the world and you can be playing off any handicap. There is no such thing as a 'qualifying round' and a non-qualifying round for GWR. All rounds qualify. We change the rankings every month so each month it is a clean slate and you can try again.

We also think that there is huge scope for a community. As the site matures and we get more traffic we would love to allow players to comment and 'like' other player's rounds, be able to ask questions, be able to find out what the top ranked players are doing in terms of equipment, drills and fitness. Imagine you have a great round at your local village course and the next thing you know, someone in America is asking you what clubs you are using and how you managed to play so well. How cool would that be? Usually this is reserved for the pros who win PGA events. No longer!

There are so many talented golfers around the world in all handicap divisions and GWR can be the umbrella platform to bring them all together without the traditional red tape that goes with scoring and ranking. It is free to enter and we are now also doing blog features on golfers that enter their scores. It is a great way to get known!

We hope you enjoy using GWR as much as we enjoy building it. Oh and in case you are wondering... Yes, we use it too! This could be really huge if we all get behind it. Why not enter your score today and join the hottest new thing in Golf.

Cheers from Steve at GWR
